Welcome to Total Equilibrium's new monthly editorial on Astrology!
Throughout the year we will examine the relationship between the stars and
planets to better understand how they influence and affect events and
circumstances here on Earth.
Over time, the real and physical effects that the planets exert upon the
Earth are becoming a matter of scientific fact rather than mere speculation or
belief. For instance, it is well understood that ocean tides are governed by the
phases of the Moon and its alignment to the Sun and Earth. Also, just this past
August, physicists at Purdue University discovered that Nature's constants are
not so "constant" afterall, as they change depending on the Earth's distance
from the Sun! While there is a rational basis for the study of Astrology, its
essence remains as a spiritual discipline. Therefore these editorials will apply
the spiritual insights that Astrology provides to predict, forecast and
understand all that which enters into our daily lives.
So let's begin by taking a look at what's in store for us this upcoming New
Year! One way of identifying some general trends for 2009 is to look at the
aspects of the planets during two primary events:
1) the first Solar eclipse of the year (1/26 2:55am EST)
2) the Sun's journey into the sign of Aries (Solar Ingress - 3/20
7:45am)
An examination of these two Astrological charts reveal the following
trends:
- The eclipse expresses a tendency towards impulsive and ill-considered
action concerning money during the first part of the New Year. This does not
bode well for Canada as Parliament will resume under the influence of this
eclipse.
- As the Sun finds itself badly placed early on, it will illustrate to us
the pitfalls of arrogance, pride and all other aspects of the negative ego.
During this period of time, those of us in positions of high status and regard
may experience challenges to our authority or face the possibility of a
downfall.
- Governments and other institutions of power and authority will continue
to experience significant challenges. However, the extent to which this is true
may not be readily apparent, despite the overwhelming momentum towards
progression and change.
- The eclipse also signifies the possibility of a continuation of severe
weather patterns. Winter may turn out to be rather cold and inhospitable.
- The World faces the real possibility of a global food shortage or crisis.
It may be prudent to stock up on additional food and supplies as we approach the
spring.
- Issues of scarcity and illness may be subject to more serious
consideration; the dialogue of the year may center around such themes as the
year progresses.
The key insights that we must keep in mind as we enter 2009 is that periods
of great uncertainty, distress and upheavel always precede any profound and
lasting change. While we look to build a better future for ourselves and the
world, we must be realistic about the challenges that must be overcome first. If
we are able to keep our collective resolve, many great opportunities for
positive transformation lie ahead!
