Reiki Healing
Reiki is a form of holistic energy-based healing that originated in Japan close to 200 years ago, re-discovered by Dr. Makio Usui on his return from a 21-day meditation. During his journey home he was enlightened and given the Reiki symbols along with the knowing that he could help heal people.
As a conduit for Rei (universal) and Ki (energy), Dr. Usui understood he could help people at the Chi (life force energy) level without depleting his own Chi, to heal and restore balance to the body. Administering this aid, only with the permission of the receiver, along with the Reiki principles, Dr. Usui's gift to the world grows rich in awareness with each person is who is literally "TOUCHED" by this energy.
Many cultures apply the understanding and practice of Chi energy in their current daily medical systems. Other modalities, such as Acupuncture, Acupressure and Shiatsu, work with the same principles of addressing both the physical body and the energy body.
However, energy healing is an ancient practice, known quite simply as the act of laying on of hands, with references in many a spiritual text. Working with what is commonly known as the charkas/energy centers, Reiki helps the body realign once again with those energy centers allowing for optimum health and the flow of Chi.
Reiki is a highly spiritual experience for many. Only the actual act of receiving Reiki gives it justice, as a perception to its simplicity. Reiki is basic in its application yet powerful in its effects. The healing benefits are endless. Today Reiki is considered a complimentary, non-invasive, holistic energy modality that all living things may benefit from, even your pets and your plants.
At Total Equilibrium, our love of Reiki has taken us to studied both the western tradition of Reiki from the Usui Lineage, as well as the traditional Japanese lineage of Jikiden Reiki. As members in good standing of the Canadian Reiki Association as well as with the Jikiden Reiki Kenkyukai in Japan, we are able to offer healing sessions in both lineages. Training to become a Reiki Practitioner is offered within the Usui Lineage.
